Relieve pain.

SportVis®
for tendon
and ligament injuries1–3

Innovative treatment

The first of its kind

SportVis® is the only Health Canada–authorized hyaluronic acid intended to relieve pain and restore function in damaged tendons and ligaments.1

It has demonstrated a timely return to normal, pain-free function in patients with chronic lateral epicondylalgia and acute first- and second-degree ankle sprains and is supported by two Canadian clinical trials.

SportVis® with STABHA® targets and treats soft tissue injuries.

Elbow tendon injury

Before treatment

Before treatment

Microscopic tearing in the tendon.

Ankle ligament injury

Before treatment

Before treatment

Stretched or torn ligament.

STABHA®’s soft-tissue-specific biocompatibility is a result of:

  • ▪ A high level of purity
  • ▪ A patented manufacturing process
  • ▪ A generally well-tolerated treatment
  • - No serious AEs were reported with SportVis®.
  • - Pain was the most common adverse event.
  • - For lateral elbow tendinopathy: pain during injection (SportVis® n=3, placebo n=5)
  • - For ankle sprains: pain (SportVis® n=8, placebo n=7), swelling (SportVis® n=1, placebo n=4), erythema (SportVis® n=2, placebo n=2), and unspecified adverse events (SportVis® n=0, placebo n=2)

Efficacy and safety

In chronic lateral elbow tendinopathy

Significant improvement in
pain relief lasted 1 year*,†,2

(SportVis® patients vs. placebo; p<0.05)

In acute ankle sprain

Significant improvement in pain relief began as soon as Day 4
and lasted up to 2 years*,†,3

Administration techniques

Make SportVis® part of your patients’ recovery.

SportVis® is administered via a peri-articular injection technique. This injection is delivered in an injury-specific fanning technique.

Lateral elbow tendinopathy administration

Dosage:

Two 1.2 mL SportVis® injections, 1 week apart.

A 27-gauge needle is recommended.

Two-plane fanning technique:

  1. 1Identify the tenderest point of the epicondyle by gentle palpation.Position the needle at 45° to the point of maximal pain of the lateral epicondyle.
  2. 2After puncture of the skin, angle the needle parallel to the skin and insert it toward the point of maximal pain on the lateral epicondyle. • Inject half of the contents as
    the needle is withdrawn toward
the skin without exiting the skin.
  3. 3Rotate the needle 180° (opposite direction) and insert the needle parallel to the skin toward the point of maximal pain on the lateral epicondyle. • Inject the remaining contents as
    the needle is withdrawn toward
the skin. Remove the needle from
    the skin.
  4. Flex and extend the elbow five times and then internally and externally rotate five times.

SportVis® is intended to relieve pain and restore function in:1

Acute first- and second-degree ankle sprain;

Chronic (> 3 months) lateral epicondylalgia (tennis elbow).

Contraindication:

Patients with known sensitivity to sodium hyaluronate.

Relevant warnings and precautions:

  • SportVis® pre-filled syringes are single use only. The contents of the syringe should be used for one injection only. Any remaining sodium hyaluronate should be discarded. If a syringe is retained for a subsequent injection, there is a risk of contamination resulting in the possible infection of the patient, and/or foreign body reaction.
  • SportVis® should not be re-sterilized as the device performance may be compromised, which could cause serious harm to the patient’s health and safety.
  • Sodium hyaluronate has the potential to occlude the vessels, which could result in embolism or infarction.
  • SportVis® should only be injected by a healthcare professional trained in peri-articular injection techniques.
  • SportVis® must not be injected into blood vessels or into a hematoma.
  • Direct injection into tendons should be avoided, as this can lead to rupture. Use of an ultrasound probe to guide the injection will minimize this risk.
  • Do not inject into the soft tissue of patients if the area of the injection site is infected or if there is evidence of acute or chronic skin disease in the area.
